Take now thy son. Genesis 22:2

Ok. So it's kinda short. But I have a point.

When God asks us to do something, He asks us to do it now. As they say, delayed obedience is disobedience. It's funny how we try to debate with God or try to buy some time whenever He asks us to do something. I tried to divert attention from doing this devo myself. There is no later when it comes to His will, and whenever we rationalize to put things off, then the sacrifice becomes lesser.

Abraham followed God on the spot. When God asked him to sacrifice his son, Isaac, he did it right away--no questions asked. It's actually very simple for him. He just did what he was told, not because of blind faith but because he knew God had a plan. He didn't ask for advice from anyone else for what he was asked to do, because God message was clear and distinct. There are times that we get paralyzed by asking too many questions when the message is already clear. "Paralysis of analysis," as they would say.

Another thing to consider is that Abraham did not choose the sacrifice. God did. In our ministries, we might have the wrong notion that we get to pick our sacrifice. I'm kinda guilty of that too. I came to the point where i reserve myself for something, which I don't think is right. I should be where God wants me to be. If he wants me to play more in the Worship Team, then I should do that. If He needs me to lead a Bible study group, then i'll do that. If by some strange reason He asks me to lead Dance ministry, why not?

Self-chosen service for God is still selfishness said in a politically correct way. Self-sacrifice is mostly a good thing, but it can also be a disease, and addiction, a false sense of fulfillment. We should never choose the scene of martyrdom, none of the early church people did. If we think we have the choice, then it becomes about us. Yes, GCF Youth LIVE offers different ministry opportunities, but make sure you're getting into the right one--one where you can stay in and be most effective because you've prayed for it. It doesn't matter if you start from the bottom, what's important is you follow what God wants you to do now.

As for me, it shouldn't be a matter of capacity or preference. It should be about my obedience and promptness. I pray that if God does call me one day to do full time ministry, I could give a yes right there and then, no questions asked, with a heart willing to give up everything for Him. What about you? Are you ready to do His work now?

Ohohoho~ Saki and dance min! wooot! XD in the past, i had felt bitter at times because some people stick to where their passions are, regardless of the need for them in other ministries. but then again, they might not have heard His voice calling them where to serve. Yei for encouragement, 'Sac XD this rings true with my case & i will continue to be where He places me, doing what He makes me do rather than have it my way and serve Him my way
