I received word early this afternoon that last Saturday, about 30 people prayed to trust Jesus and follow Him with all they've got. God is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G! If you're one of those who prayed that prayer and you're reading this now, I want you to know that you have just embarked on an amazing journey with God! It's as if God was taking a road trip to a beautiful place and He just said to you "Hop in, let's go for a ride." And you're about to enjoy the sights and sounds of that journey.
Don't be mislead though. It's one great ride but it's hardly a smooth one all throughout. It's not the easiest thing in the world to start and maintain this close relationship with God but I want you to know that GCF Youth L.I.V.E. is here to help you out. We're family and we look out for each other.
And so Pastor, how do I get started? I've listed 3 things that will help you get on your way.
1. Find a church and worship God regularly. Find a group of believers (a church) and join them in worshipping God. If you live far from GCF and you have a difficult time coming here, find a good Bible-believing church in your area. If you don't know of any, post a comment to this blog entry and we'll be glad to help you find a home church for you in your area. If you decide to make GCF your home church, we'll be looking forward to seeing you more often here at Youth L.I.V.E. Worship.
2. Get a Bible and start reading. Find a good and easy translation of the Bible. I'll suggest getting an NIV (New International Version) or an ESV (English Standard Version). Start reading! I'll suggest you start reading from one of the gospels. The book of Mark is a good place to start. Ask yourself these questions while you're reading: What is God trying to say to me? Is He asking me to fix something in my life? Is He asking me to do something in particular? What is He teaching me today? If you're having a hard time with your Bible reading, don't hesitate to ask any of the pastors, leaders, ates, or kuyas to help you out.
3. Pray and meditate. Set some time off within your day to just talk to God (you don't have to be fancy with your words to Him) and build that relationship with Him. Nothing builds relationships better than communication.
There's a lot more to it in the believer's life but I hope this helps you get started on your journey with God.
I'm excited for the journey you've just embarked on,
Beej
Any of you guys have a 4th tip on getting started? :)
