I take this moment to look back so far at what happened in my life...and wow! It's been a rollercoaster ride for me! So many ups and downs, twists and turns, high-degree maneuvers, and heart-stopping moments.
It's been approximately 10 years since "that" happened. I thought that "that" would take away my life, but thanks through God's intervention, I'm still here today. And I just take this time to look back in all the wonderful things that happened. To be perfectly honest, I wasn't expecting things to turn out this way. Not only surviving, but living life fully with the privelage of studying Music. I once thought that once all of my medications were over, I would just stay at home, sitting in the chair or the sofa, doing minimal things that don't even require much. But I never knew that God would give me the privelage to bask life under the sun again, go to different places by myself, make friends I would have never made in any other lifetime. To put it all simply, I'm just thankful.
It may be long, but it's really a good read. And it'll either help you or someone you may know. It's an excerpt from a book by the pastor of www.lifechurch.tv
The “I Can Change Him” Lie
If I’ve seen this once, I’ve seen it a thousand times. Please don’t be number 1,001. A sweet, beautiful, talented, Christ-following girl meets a not-so-great, all-the-lights-are-red guy and thinks to herself, he might not be great now, but I can change him.
It’s time for a holy rebellion. Rebel against that lie! You can’t change anyone – especially him!
You might recognize the following scenario.
Sweet girl meets Jerk guy. Everyone but Sweet girl knows Jerk guy is, well, a jerk. For some reason her friends can’t understand, Sweet girl thinks Jerk guy is great – or at least will be great when she’s through with him.
Don’t get me wrong, Jerk guy has some decent qualities. Every now and then, Jerk guy does something kind of sweet. But everyone who knows him agrees he’s mostly a jerk.
Letter from my friend in Arkansas about American Idol winner Kris Allen
I couldn't tell you exactly the first moment I remember Kris Allen leading worship, but what comes to mind is a flooding of memories. You see when I was in college I would go weekly to this Christian ministry called Chi Alpha and it would bring in what felt like over 100 students each Monday night and we'd gather before the Lord in a room upstairs in the student center of University of Central Arkansas. This is where Kris truly blossomed for the Lord and used his gifting that God gave him to draw students closer to our heavenly Father through song and acoustic guitar. I, too, was involved in the ministry and served there in a different capacity and though I wasn't a dear friend of Kris Allen, I was touched by his art. He and I knew of each other and would say "hi" in passing and though my friends and I didn't know then that he would win American Idol a few years later, we still knew he had talent and believed in him.
Woohoo! With the end of the dark tunnel called 'Finals' comes the glorious light of the summer break, and all the students rejoice! After a while, the truth sinks in that we're blessedly bumming and after that, we get over it...well at least some of us do.
while the more grown-up among us begin to look for stuff to do and make good use of the time, some of us just can't seem to get a move on. yep, me included. Ai, my energy level seems to be as high as the very moment i turned in my last exam for the sem. i might still sound like a jibbering idiot! but if you can listen intently, beyond my blubbering is the sound of the loud buzz in my head.
I WANT, GOD WANTS
By Dags Miguel
It's been a rollercoaster ride so far for me this year... as with my whole life.
Seeing myself now, I can't believe I used to live a double life; a typical Christian kid in church and the exact opposite in school. If the Hoekmans, my fourth grade Sunday school teachers, had not shared the Gospel to me, I would be nowhere. But now, I'm just really honored to be here, serving the Lord.
Some verses to remember when you’re stressed
By Tim Villarica
Sweaty palms, heavy eyebags, and cups of coffee, are all the symptoms of stress in student life. When you’re racing to meet the impending doom of tomorrow’s due paper, God’s presence seems to be up in the clouds. Fortunately, here are some verses that I like to remember when my hope is running low:
Matthew 13:29-31 - God cares
Whether you’re thinking about Him or not, you’re important to God. He’s your Creator. God hears the thud of a single tiny sparrow when it falls to the ground. If two sparrows “are sold for a penny”, in God’s currency we were also “bought at a price” (1 Corinthians 20:6)—His Son’s blood. He cares for us that much.
Matthew 6:25-31 - Loosen up because God’s in charge
LOOK AT ME
By Ian De Ocampo
I've been a Christian for about five years now. Looking back, it's really amazing how God has changed my life.
I had a lot of vices back then and I was not a diligent student. The Gospel was shared to me one time. Actually not just one time – it was a constant barrage from God through my classes, sermons, and the like. But I didn't immediately accept it until I realized how wasted my life really was.
It was then that I started serving God through the ministries in GCF. I was a regular at SATJAM, and I've gotten to know some people through youth camps. There were signups and... I enlisted. God has used me more ever since.
I Had Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins Left Out
(Or Should I Say Left Behind?)
By Ica Ducanes
LaHaye and Jenkins’ Left Behind series have sold more than 60 million copies worldwide. It has spun 13 other books and three prequels as well. LaHaye was the brainchild and did notes for the Left Behind series and Jerry B. Jenkins did the actual writing. Many question the validity of the two writers of the Left Behind series. Do they know what they are talking about? Or are they just apocalyptic fan fiction authors? Who really are Time Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins?
