I WANT, GOD WANTS

By Dags Miguel

It's been a rollercoaster ride so far for me this year... as with my whole life.

Seeing myself now, I can't believe I used to live a double life; a typical Christian kid in church and the exact opposite in school. If the Hoekmans, my fourth grade Sunday school teachers, had not shared the Gospel to me, I would be nowhere. But now, I'm just really honored to be here, serving the Lord.

Some verses to remember when you’re stressed

By Tim Villarica

Sweaty palms, heavy eyebags, and cups of coffee, are all the symptoms of stress in student life. When you’re racing to meet the impending doom of tomorrow’s due paper, God’s presence seems to be up in the clouds. Fortunately, here are some verses that I like to remember when my hope is running low:

Matthew 13:29-31 - God cares

Whether you’re thinking about Him or not, you’re important to God. He’s your Creator. God hears the thud of a single tiny sparrow when it falls to the ground. If two sparrows “are sold for a penny”, in God’s currency we were also “bought at a price” (1 Corinthians 20:6)—His Son’s blood. He cares for us that much.

Matthew 6:25-31 - Loosen up because God’s in charge

LOOK AT ME

By Ian De Ocampo

I've been a Christian for about five years now.  Looking back, it's really amazing how God has changed my life.

I had a lot of vices back then and I was not a diligent student. The Gospel was shared to me one time. Actually not just one time – it was a constant barrage from God through my classes, sermons, and the like. But I didn't immediately accept it until I realized how wasted my life really was.

It was then that I started serving God through the ministries in GCF. I was a regular at SATJAM, and I've gotten to know some people through youth camps. There were signups and... I enlisted. God has used me more ever since.

I Had Tim LaHaye and Jerry Jenkins Left Out

(Or Should I Say Left Behind?)

By Ica Ducanes

LaHaye and Jenkins’ Left Behind series have sold more than 60 million copies worldwide. It has spun 13 other books and three prequels as well. LaHaye was the brainchild and did notes for the Left Behind series and Jerry B. Jenkins did the actual writing. Many question the validity of the two writers of the Left Behind series. Do they know what they are talking about?  Or are they just apocalyptic fan fiction authors? Who really are Time Lahaye and Jerry Jenkins?

C.S. Lewis: an author review

By Reuben Aquino

Clive Staples Lewis is known to be one of the greatest Christian authors of the past century.  His conversion story from atheism to Christianity due to his friend J.R.R. Tolkien is also well known. What is his secret? The literary aces in hands are his ability to use flexibility, open-mindedness and uniqueness.

TALENT AND MENTALITY

By Jess Orleans

It's weird how people sometimes rationalize about serving God.

People tend to reject serving God simply because they don't have friends who serve with them, or at least people they know. They tend to think it's limited to working in the church context. And people see it as obligatory.

At least that's the way I see people thinking.

But it's not actually hard to be active in service to God. I've been a Christian for eleven years now, and trust me, it's not hard. But it's a long way before I realized that.

Chris Daughtry: A Real Star

By Nicah Santos

Last July 29, 2008, Chris Daughtry of American Idol fame had a concert in the Philippines.  Although he was far from winning American Idol, his career still went on to greater things.  His band’s first album, “Daughtry”, went platinum four times. Album sales reflect the recognition his fans have of his talent. On the popularity list, he’s way up there with Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Despite his fame, he thinks that his greatest achievement was teaching his son how to ride a bike. Even with his fame, fortune, and family, his most surprising and relevant characteristic is that he’s a Christian, and a proud Christian at that.

Hunting for Fruitcakes

Reflection on Passion Message by Louie Gigilio

By Najee Chua

It’s that time of year again - when fruitcakes are given to so many people.  The tradition says that fruitcakes are forever given, but never eaten.  No one wants fruitcake, much less desires to be called a fruitcake.  Yet the term “fruitcake” took on a whole new definition on August 1, 2008 at the Passion Conference held in the PhilSports Arean (formerly Ultra).
