We are Youth Living in View of Eternity

Youth L.I.V.E. is the Youth Ministry of Greenhills Christian Fellowship Ortigas. "So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." - II Corinthians 4:18

Young people are often described as happy-go-lucky and lacking direction in life. However we, as Youth Living In View of Eternity, know that we are created for a time without end because we have a relationship with the eternal God and live according to His eternal Word. Therefore, we live a life of purpose that defines what really matters – to live for God and bring glory to His name in everything we do.

Youth L.I.V.E. offers a variety of activities for each kind of youth - the sporty, the bookworm, the computer-whiz, the musical, the dancer, the writer, the artist, the playful, the laidback, the rocker and you! We believe that whatever you can do or whatever situation you are in, God has a purpose for you. Learn more by joining our Y-groups (small group disicipleship for the youth), Youth Worship, Youth Links Sports, Youth Ministry Teams and Youth Special Events.

A Short History

Even as Greenhills Christian Fellowship started in 1978, there had been ministries for the youth and the young adult. During the Medecor days, there was the Timothy Fellowship for the college people, Salt And Light Teens for the high school and the Youth Choir. In the late eighties till the early nineties, Pastor Butch Diwa and Fran Gonzales ministered to the youth. The high school and college people were not only permanent fixtures in Sunday School but were involved in discipleship, service, outreach and musicales. The first youth camp was held in 1995 with 150 attendees and with Pastor Benjie Miranda serving as pastoral intern.

In 1996, the youth ministry was started under the leadership of Pastor Benjie Miranda. This year was also the beginning of the youth worship, Bonkers Olympics, Valentines events and the ChannelS newsletter. The youth ministry had their own band instruments and youth center at the 4th floor Ortigas Center building. The youth started to form their identity as an established ministry having inter-fellowships with other churches. The ministry continued to grow as Pastor Alvin Rival took the helm of leadership in 1999.

Youth volunteers were raised and who formed the foundation for the succeeding growths ahead. It was the youth volunteers who started owning the youth ministry in 2004 under the leadership of Chette King, Pastor Ro Peñaranda and Pastor Herbert Pascual. Youth L.I.V.E which means Youth Living In View of Eternity was chosen in January 2005 by the youth themselves and it represented the thrust of the youth ministry which was to live a life of purpose in their generation. They were temporarily housed at the Millennium Place, Meralco Avenue and moved to the 6th floor of the new building in 2006.

The Youth Ministry was sub-divided into more focused and team-oriented programs —Worship, Discipleship, Fellowship, Missions and Service (which is presently Promotions). Since then, Youth L.I.V.E has produced 30 Y-groups (youth small groups), 2 evangelistic concerts which featured all-original skits, videos and compositions, discipleship and small group curriculum materials and a website. Today, almost 300 youth are being ministered in church, in sports and in college campuses. Presently, there are about 100 youth volunteers and leaders who plan and implement the activities, lead small groups and disciple others.
